Background:
The Bob Woodruff Foundation is a national nonprofit that ensures injured service members, veterans, and their families are thriving long after they return to civilian life. After years of war the men and women who have served in Iraq and Afghanistan return with physical and mental scars, many severe, leading to debilitating circumstances including unemployment, substance abuse and homelessness.  The Bob Woodruff Foundation is a leader in advocating for public awareness and understanding of the challenges facing injured veterans and the foundation has raised and donated $42 million to programs that help veterans return to civilian life.  To date, the foundation and its donors have helped 2.5 million injured veterans and their families.

The Position:
The Bob Woodruff Foundation is looking for a Corporate Sponsorships Manager to execute sponsorship and partner activity that occurs with all Bob Woodruff Foundation funders and partners.  This includes the identification, planning, execution and analysis of collaborative relationships and the outcomes associated with continued cultivation and stewardship of corporate donors. Reporting to and supporting the Executive Director, the Corporate Sponsorships Manager will set goals and priorities for strategic partnerships and fundraising, personally manage a portfolio of donors and prospects, and be actively involved in strategy sessions, cultivation and solicitation activities.

 Specific Responsibilities:
The primary functions of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Research, analyze and identify trends to determine the strongest positioning plans and tactics
  • Secure new sponsors through cold outreach
  • Research, develop and pitch new opportunities to existing partners
  • Cultivate and expand strategic partnerships and sponsorships to build and extend BWF brand reach
  • Manage client relationships to ensure satisfaction and renewed investment
  • Create fresh multi-platform programs to bring in new and increase current partner investments
  • Create lucrative corporate social responsibility programs for partners
  • Generate philanthropic communications/marketing solutions including social media, mobile, promotions, events, digital, retail and PR elements
  • Manage strategy and oversee tactical execution for beginning-stage and renewing partnerships
  • Lead cross-functional teams/projects in order to identify and overcome challenges
  • Interface with BWF grant selection committee to understand processes for reviewing and recommending fund allocations
  • Produce marketing materials including presentations, proposals and sell sheets
  • Establish metric standards to clearly measure successes and identify new opportunities
  • Work alongside the foundation team to integrate events, social and mobile media campaigns to increase engagement and ROI for partners

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum eight (8) years progressively responsible experience with proven sales, business development or fundraising track record
  • Authority, personality and passion to serve as an external as well as internal evangelist for the foundation and its growth
  • Ability to lead masterful sales conversations from prospecting to needs discovery to closing
  • Understanding of a wide-range of communications disciplines and capabilities, including digital and emerging media; data, measurement and analytics; strategy, planning and outreach; and social media usage tracking and evaluation
  • Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills and ability to connect with diverse audiences
  • Experience setting goals and objectives, prioritizing and structuring action plans and work activities
  • Self-starter with ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
  • Commitment to the Bob Woodruff Foundation mission and core values
  • Proficient in MS Office; experience with Salesforce beneficial
  • Periodic local travel and ability to work nights and weekends as required
