Background:
The MirRam Group is a prominent New York-based government affairs, lobbying, and political consulting firm. Founded in 1999 by Luis Miranda Jr. and Roberto Ramirez, Esq., the firm is known for its deep community ties, particularly within Latino and Black neighborhoods, and its focus on minority empowerment campaigns.
MirRam utilizes its extensive political experience and community relationships to serve a diverse clientele including nonprofit organizations, small and large businesses, labor unions, and political campaigns of elected officials. It offers a comprehensive range of services including lobbying and legislative advocacy, community engagement and coalition building, communications and public relations, business development, and research, which includes conducting focus groups and polls to provide empirical data to support client contentions.
The Position:
The MirRam Group is seeking a Senior Finance Officer (SFO) to support the organization. This is a strategic, fast-paced, hands-on position reporting directly to the Managing Partner.. This role demands a highly organized individual capable of managing concurrent, high-priority assignments for a New York City-based small business operating multiple entities. In addition, the Senior Finance Officer must be a highly skilled and experienced financial executive who has held high-level management positions for a number of years.
This person will be a strategic thinker with a collaborative management style who possesses a thorough understanding of generally accepted accounting principles. The SFO will have strong interpersonal skills, excellent written and oral communication skills, and the ability to address and solve problems or issues as they arise. In addition, this individual will be diplomatic, of the highest integrity, and possesses sound judgment as well as a sense of humor.
The Senior Finance Officer is primarily responsible for the financial health, regulatory compliance, and general operational support of the organization.
Specific responsibilities include:
Financial Management & Oversight
- Accounting Operations: Oversee all accounting (A/P, A/R, payroll, general ledger), consolidation, and reporting across multiple business entities.
- Reporting & Strategy: Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports for partners; provide forecasts and lead the budgeting process.
- Liquidity & Compliance: Manage cash flow, maintain banking relationships, ensure adequate liquidity, and guarantee compliance with all local, state, and federal financial regulations.
- Team Leadership: Supervise and mentor the existing team of three experienced accounting staff.
Human Resources & Administration
- HR Management: Oversee all Human Resources functions, including onboarding, performance management, employee relations, and maintaining compliance with labor laws. Note – currently enrolled with ADP TotalSource PEO for all payroll, benefits, and HR services.
- Benefits & Compensation: Administer employee benefits, compensation, payroll, and manage employee pension/retirement plans.
- Liaison Duties: Act as the primary link between the company and the external accounting firm (for tax payments/reporting), the banking partner (Chase), and the IT firm.
- Administrative Oversight: Manage and monitor office leases, business insurance, and company subscription services.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, business administration or a related field, or equivalent work experience; advanced degree preferred (while a CPA is not necessary, knowledge of accounting principles is essential).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel is mandatory.
- Soft Skills: Must possess strong leadership, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to handle pressure and multiple priorities.
- HR Experience: Experience with HR management, employment law, and pension plan administration is a significant plus.
- Strong business instincts, able to quickly identify problems, synthesize a variety of factors to make effective and practical decisions and develop an appropriate course of action.
- Experience: 5+ years in financial management, ideally in a small business or multi-entity setting.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, interpersonal and organizational skills.
- Team player with a collaborative ethos and strong supervisory skills; must be able to build consensus internally and externally.

Compensation
Salary range is $150,000 to $175,000 annually, plus benefits.
This position requires in-office attendance 5 days/week.
